Hill Pottery
Soda Glazed Porcelain
& Stoneware
Potter Dan Hill combines ancient ceramic techniques with his contemporary designs and decoration to produce beautiful functional and one of a kind Soda Glazed pottery.
Soda Glaze is achieved by spraying a mixture of sodium and water into the 1200 degree Celsius pottery kiln. The extreme heat causes the soda mix to vapourize. The Soda vapour and flame flow over and around the pottery, enhancing the clay surfaces with flashes of colour and texture. Dan uses fire and soda vapour much like a painter utilizes a brush and paint, ensuring that each piece of his pottery is one of a kind.
Teapots, mugs, casseroles, platters and bowls in many colours and sizes for the kitchen and dining as well as decorative artwork for the home and garden are just some of what is produced at Hill Pottery.
Hill Pottery is available at Hillside Paintings and Pottery where you can also visit the studios of Hill Pottery and Joyce Burkholder, Artist. Also available at the Wilno Garden Gallery and the Wilno Craft Gallery in the village of Wilno.
